Hi Mstsi,

How are you providing power to the Arduino? Just through a standard USB port?

It is not enough power for the WiFi shield. You should try to provide additional power to the arduino either by plugging in a wall wart or using a usb power adapter.

Try that and see if it fixes your problem.

Dear Hector:

I connected a bench top power supply instead of USB to the DFRduino and the Wifi Shield.  The PS is able to provide up to 2A of current. So, I don't think the power is the issue.  I think the 3Hz blinking SYS LED provides some information which was not explained in the WIZ610 doucment.

Hi Mstsai,

I'm not quite sure what the blinking LED might mean. All I can tell you is that you need a lot of patients and trial and error to get the WiFi Shield working. Maybe its the DHCP Settings on your Router, or something along those lines. Try different settings, and see if there is any change...

What's best voltage for wifi shield? I use 7~8.4v lipo and it seems a bit over heat. Regulate it down to 6V seems ok but want to know what's the best solution.

Another question. I am not sure what did I do last night. Was trying to figure how to do wireless setting thru browser and it freezed. after that the IP change from 192.168.1.254 to 192.168.1.1 and which conflict with router I guess. Can't do anything after that. What should I do? Is there anyway to change it's IP without connect browser?

Hi Hardmouse,

You could try to connect the Wifi shield directly to your PC, you can use any kind of LAN cable. The Wifi shield will hopefully issue your PC an IP address, then you can go in and reset the settings if this doesn't work, another quick fix would be to reset the module to factory default by holding the reset button for 10 seconds, then removing power.

Otherwise, let me know, and we will try to figure out another solution.

my network is now 192.168.2.x and I have press reset button for 10 seconds.
If I connect it direct to the router, what is the IP will be? I try to find all devices which connect to my router either wire or wireless they all can be detected but not this Arduino WIFI board. Please help and thank!

Hardmouse,

Did you press the reset button for 10 seconds, release the button, then remove power? That should reset the WiFi shield to factory defaults.

What about connecting it to your PC directly? That didn't work??

Yes, I did. The board has connect to router with RJ45 cable and power by 7.2V battery. Reset button has pressed over 10+ seconds and release also power off.

I will upload the video for you to prove what I did. You guys in China? I know it's hard for you guys to see Youtube, should I upload to youku or somewhere?

You said the board will automatically be detect and assign an IP address? If my IP was start from 192.168.2.x, will that be something like 192.168.2.20 etc? or it still remain 192.168.1.14 and won't be detected?
