We used to sell a charger for this battery. But we found out it is a fake, so we removed it from the shop. You can find many of these on the internet. I'm not sure if they are the real one, so be careful where you buy it.

My problem is that I don't want open the rover every time I have to change AA batteries...

For this reason I search a battery that can be store in the rover and I can recharge without open the rover.

In
this video Small | Large
at the minute 4:08 there is a battery, I don't understand if it can be used for the project, but if it is a choice, I need a power supply in european standard. Do you know the battery in the video?

Thanks!

Piero,

The battery I recommended will work with the Rome, and you don't need a specialized charger for it, just need to make a simple cable with some wire, and get an 8.5Vdc, 1A power supply.

Thank you for the response!

Another question...  ;)

With only a 9v battery, can I power a system with:

Pirate-4WD Mobile Platform (4 motors)
Romeo-All in one Controller
DFRobot Bluetooth V3
Parallax Ultrasonic Sensor

In the video, he use only 5 AA battery...

Thanks another time!

Hi,

Hector said it earlier, that 9V battery can be used, but it's not especially good idea, since they got fairly small capasity. That means, you will get short operating time before you need to change battery.

I recommend 5 or 6 AA-batteries or rechargeable AA-batteries (For example eneloops). Or the LiPo battery Hector linked. They will last much, much longer.

9V Batteries are about 100-150mAh (milliAmpere hours, means how much electrical energy they hold.) Wich is really small capasity compared to 2200mAh LiPo-battery or 2000-3000mAh rechargeable batteries.

If I use this to recharge the battery, I have to cut a wire and connect positive and negative to the battery with this jack? I want to understand exactly how I have to do to recharge battery before buy them.

Thanks.

Can I use this to recharge the battery?

See the product description:
Quote
This shield is used to provide a rechargable battery pack for the Arduino.

The mini-USB port is used to charge the Li-ion or Lo-ion poly battery (NOT INCLUDED). There are LEDs showing the charging, full status.

That explains what it is and how it works. It also says that the battery is not included, you have to buy a battery that fits into that, too.

If I use this to...

It's discontinued product, Hector mentioned the reasons in this topic allready.

I also told the other options there are, see my previous post in this topic.

You should not have to cut any wires on the battery it self. You need to make a small cable with some spare cable, and you would not be using the blue battery charger. All you would need would be a regular DC power adapter which can provide 8.5Vdc and 1A.

I'm not too sure about the cute digi shield. In their example they use a 600mA battery. This would not be enough to provide significant power to the romeo and 4 motors.
