Bluno Beetle PC Connection

I've quite a bit of experience working with Arduinos and other microcontrollers in the past, however this is the first time that I've worked with a BLE device. I had presumed that after configuration I'd be able to connect the beetle to my laptop directly through Bluetooth and then access the serial monitor from there. However, all examples and documentation I've seen online require another Bluno board to be the master rather than the PC. To get these wireless comms, will I have to purchase another board to route signals through or is there a way of this direct comms described earlier?
