I'm thinking of installing some of these inside my pc case. To power I was looking at the sata power spec and it supplies upto 54w on the 12v lines apparently see here http://www.playtool.com/pages/psuconnec ... .html#sata

(PSU is 1000w so plenty of power available)
What do people think safe or not? don't wanna fry them :D

for me, I will never do that
the port is not design for power the whole board, so I don't know if the power manager unit support that,
So may be you will get an unpowered board or a fried one

Do you mean use the DC port?

This is the port I am referring to http://docs.lattepanda.com/content/alph ... -connector.

Unfortunately the other community site is down there are lots of information with experiments on what power this port accepts by a user on there. I would reach out to them but not sure they on here :(
