Here we come San Francisco Maker Faire!

May 14, 2012 in News

Hi everyone,

This following weekend (May 19-20) we will be attending the Bay Area Maker Faire. We are nervous, and exited to be there for the first time! We look forward to seeing many of our customers there and to meet many makers, hackers, hobbyists, and anyone else who is interested.  For the past few weeks we have been very busy preparing for the Maker Faire, along with coordinating all of the formalities with the O’reilly media group, which has been challenging because of the huge time difference between Shanghai and San Francisco, but the O’reilly team is very professional and they have done a great job communicating with us and answering all of our silly questions. Thanks Miranda, and the rest of the team!

Over the past couple of weeks we asked for volunteers to help us man our booth (Booth number 20) during the event, and there was a few brave souls who answered the call. We want to thank those of you who will volunteer some of your time to our booth.

Thanks:

Mark
Danielle
William
Alan
Derek
Lex and her family

I hope you all have an excellent time at the Maker Faire.

Happy hacking,
The DFRobot team.

Good news, everybody! We’ve got a deadly package to deliver!

April 29, 2012 in Activities, Daily Happenings, News

So today is the first full day of the maker carnival, Beijing. It’s been a huge success for us. Our DFRduino city, along with our DFRduino time bomb have been drawing plenty of crowds. lots of people here are learning for the first time about arduino and open source hardware.

We have also setup a small work shop to teach people how to solder. For many it’s their first time and it can be quite intimidating, so we have started them off with two simple options, either make a small LED badge or a small cloth puppet with LED eyes. We hope they get hooked, and like us, become makers for life. But, more than anything we hope they have a good time and enjoy our booth.

We will post more pictures of the whole event as soon as we get access to a pc with a descent Internet connection.

Maker carnival, Beijing begins

April 28, 2012 in Activities, Daily Happenings, News

Hey everyone, just want to give you all a quick update. Today marks the beginning of the first maker carnival in Beijing. It’s also the first maker event Dfrobot participates in. The picture above is a time bomb game. We will post some videos of our victims later, so stay tuned :D

Here is a short video of part of our booth display. It’s an electronic Rube Goldberg machine. We have slowed it down a bit so that it lasts longer. We put a lot of effort into making this and as anyone who has ever made a Rube Goldberg machine knows, a lot of hours are put in for only a few seconds of show. I hope you all enjoy the short video.

update: we will post the video later. Sorry, mobile web here, not so reliable.
