We are pleased to know Bumblebee, a robotic research team that we DFRobot sponsored, have clinched 3rd place out of the 43 teams in the 19th International Robosub Competition in San Diego.

Bumblebee maintained an enthusiastic attitude on robotics and always kept an advanced level over the last several years. It is the fourth time for the team participating in this International competition held in San Diego. In the previous competition, Bumblebee team won the 7th place in 2013, 5th place in 2014 and 2rd place in 2015. Wish them good luck in the upcoming RoboSub 2018 and Maritime RobotX Challenge 2018.

Their project aims to build and design a vehicle or robot that is able to navigate underwater and perform a series of tasks without any remote control assistance. The system is targeted to be designed as highly intelligent and robust to changing environmental conditions. Fully autonomy is achieved with an advanced sensor suite and array of powerful actuators. As electrical hardware and kits sponsor, DFRobot will continue to support makers across the globe with more handy, solid and quality building blocks.

About Team Bumblebee

Bumblebee AUV was formed in Summer 2012. Team Captain 2013 Ong Tian Chang was approached by Prof Mandar from the Acoustic Research Lab in NUS, to form a team and participate in the inaugural Singapore Autonomous Underwater Vehicle Challenge (SAUVC) in March 2013. Currently they are building and designing a vehicle that capable of navigating underwater and perform a series of tasks without any remote control assistance. The system is targeted to be designed as highly intelligent and robust to changing environmental conditions. Fully autonomy is achieved with an advanced sensor suite and array of powerful actuators.
