AT&T 2G network shutdown in December 2016

AT&T is planning on shutting down their 2G network between now and December 2016. Does anyone know if this will affect the operation of the GPS/GPRS/GSM Shield V3.0 (Arduino Compatible) ? I am using a SIM card from AT&T to operate the GSM shield.
