Can the DFR0026 be used to tell the difference between direct sunlight and shade

I am trying to see if this unit can be used to determine how much sunlight an out door garden gets (In analogue, no need for lux). I have had trouble before getting a sensor that could differentiate between sunlight and shade as the shade was still too sunny for the LDR.
