PIR V1.0 Motion Sensor

Dear DFRobot-Team,
I am perfectly happy with following product according to the Wiki:

That reads that the sensor has a delay of around 2-3seconds. However, I'd like to use it for people counting and for that purpose, the delay time migh be a problem. Also, the sensor seems to require a change in motion. If i just stand still in front of the sensor, the it turns off again.
Would be interesting to hear your approaches for a reliable people counter. Maybe it makes sense to combine a PIR sensor due to the ultra low power consumption in combination with an ultrasonic or a light sensor.
