dfplayer speaker not working

I attached a speaker (8 Ohm, 0.25 W) to the DFPLAYER module which is controlled by a ATMEGA8 using serial communication. The earphone (DAC_R) is working, the speaker is not working.
Maybe the internal amplifier is broken? Btw, the board is brand new.
