Implement Wheel Encoders on Pirate-4WD Mobile Platform

Hi. So this is my current hardware:
Pirate-4WD Mobile Platform
Gravity:TT Motor Encoders Kit
Arduino Romeo V2
I'm pretty knew to encoders. I have them connected (soldered) to the motor but I'm not sure what to do from there. The reason I bought them was to get better precise turns (i.e, 90 degree) for the robot. Reading online, this methods seems to be the most optimal way.
Do I connect the output of the encoders to the digital inputs on the board? Does anyone have good example or sample code for configuring these encoders?
Thanks in advance!

In theory, it should be no problem. But its a pity we dont have this kind of examples code. Here is a Chinese link, maybe you can make a reference:make_clickable_callback(MAGIC_URL_FULL, '
