Contrast Problems with Latest batch of LCD Keypad Shield V2

In the last batch I ordered, the contrast is almost non existent and the text very hard to read.
There are two issues.
1) They have cheaped out and not included the potentiometer for V0 manual contrast adjustment.
2) They have used a fixed resistor for V0. Normally 1.5k to Gnd. In the last batch of displays this has been changed to 3.92k which does not work. Change to either 1k or 1.5k and the contrast will be very good.
