BEETLE v1.1 <> UPLOADING

the last sketch i uploaded is still on it, it still runs & i can still serial debug it.
however, anytime i try to upload to it from an arduinoisp as leonardo it fails.
i've tried from 3 different computers and can confirm it's the beetle itself.
is there a way to flash firmware on this?
