Gravity Lightning Sensor SKU:SEN0290

I have some questions on how to make it more reliable.
I have just had it set up with a thunder storm all around but was not getting many hits at all, even though the lightning was close.
I have the unit set up as per the wiring diagram on the wiki page, using an Arduino UNO with the latest IDE.
When I did get numerous strikes in a short period the serial monitor gave me "Disturber Discovered!" Maybe it thought the lightning was a false positive.
However, when there was no lightning I was getting an indication, even though I have the sensor and Arduino mounted away from any equipment.
Also would it be best to shield the IRQ cable?
