LattePanda - Candiate for Rover Control Board ?

Hey Everyone,
I've recently received by LattePanda board and although not brought for this project in mind I was wondering if it would make a suitable control board for a Rover Project ?
Apparent from my lack of experience with controlling hardware using .NET I see the challenges as:
Powering the board, although I gather that it is possible to power the LattePanda with a battery.
Selecting suitable Motor Controller, although I thought about following this example and running the UWP code on the LattePanda:

Is there anyone with more experience in this type of have any view on the this idea and any challenges that we might encounter.
