Hello, can this be used to directly run loads (12v) from solar without a battery connected?

Hi, I want to drive the DFR0580 with a very small and lightweight 12V lead battery. I found one great (https://fr.rs-online.com/we... 12V - 1.2Ah, but it indicates a limited current, will it fit with your charge cycle ? Thank you for your response, best regards, YB

Hello. Is there any way to use a 6V solar panel (18W) to power the solar manager ?

Hello. In my application, the DFR0580 is connected to a solar panel and a lead battery of currently 13.0 Volts. I wonder, why (at night) the "battery to controller" current is 7.960 mA, without having anything connected to OUT1 and OUT2 (they are both ENABLED). This current is almost double the amount of the specified "< 4mA quiescent current".
Is there a way to reduce this current to reach the specified 4 mA value? Thank you.

Is there any way to get digital telemetry from it to monitor it?

Hello everyone
They were testing my device, and I connected my Solar Power Manager For 12V Lead-Acid Battery to an AC adapter, but the MPPT function left it ON, I think this damaged the Power Manager, it didn't turn me on again.

Can it be fixed or should I buy a new one?

If you use the AC adapter, could you please check the specification of your adapter? The adapter needs to be 15V-24V output.
And do you have the 18V SOLAR panel to test the solar manager to see if it is borken or not?

Hello!
This product looks very good but something strange happens in our tests and I wonder if suppos to be this way.
In the test we are doing we connct one solar panel, one Battery and a LED lighting load in the OUT1 5V.
The probmel is that in the OUT1 we have power only while the solar panel is active (with sunlight), when the sun goes down the OUT1 stops to have power even the Battery is full...
Did we damaged the module, or this is the normal way of woriking the module?

This module works great until you use it a UPS with a 24v supply. I use it in my domotic project to supply a raspberry, arduino mega, relay board and some minor device, works very well with a small 2.2ah lead acid battery for about 3hrs of backup. Unfortunately i already replace 2 boards due to the fail of capacitors C10-C18 and maybe because they are rated for 25v and I'm powering the board with a constant 24v. I'm going to replace the board and power it with a buck converter down to 19-18v. I would try another solution and replace the C10-C18 25v capacitors with a 36v capacitors to power it with 24v, do you think I will solve the problem? Thanks!

I just had a failure with this charger... Solar charging stopped and the solar input leads clamped to 0 .677 volts DC... battery level leds still worked... nothing else. Just about a year old... max charge currents were about 0.5A according to my sensors. Using 18v Voltaic solar panels.

Are these repairable?

Hi,

this product looks great and is well documented, but I'm still missing some things:
-The 12V output is unregulated, isn't it? So it's just a mosfet between
the battery-voltage and the 12V output? Unregulated would be just what
I'm looking for.
-How much power does the module need for itself? Especially when idle / in undervoltage protection? Just the 4mA?
-The overdischarge release voltage means: The output is turned back on after the voltage rised over 11,8V?

Kind regards,
Luno

What is the max size of battery in amp hours that this power manager can charge? I am looking for something that can charge multiple 7aH batteries in parallel. Also, does this unit support outputting power while charging the batteries with the powers generated by the panels?

Hi Sherman,

Unfortunately, there is no way to monitor the incoming current/voltage from the solar panel, as well as a way to
get the reading on the current voltage/charge % of the lead-acid battery.

Will this work with a 12V/100 Watt Solar panel? I have an existing solar system with a 12V/100 Watt panel, a charge controller and a 12V lead acid batter and I'd like to replace the charge controller with this device.

Hello, I bought this board for a solar project and ordered an 18V panel, but it's bigger than I thought and operates about about ~8amps (144W total). Am I in the danger zone on this unit?

Hi there. This product is very cool.

I'm hoping to use it to charge a 12v gel battery. Most of the devices I want to power are small dc things that will run off of the outputs provided. But I'm wondering if it's safe to connect a dc-ac inverter directly to the battery terminals once in a while and draw 300 or 400 watts.

Would I have to disconnect the manager first or can I leave it wired in?

Thank you!

At what temperature does the unit (DFR0580) go into thermal shutdown? I ask because the Raspberry Pi 3B+ I have attached to it shutdown unexpectedly. It is a headless unit so current draw should be under 1A. The battery was fully charged and mains power did not go down either.

Hi, I have a strange issue with an assumed short, or external ground that happened when connecting a wire to the OUT2 screw terminal. The protection did not kick in and the component marked caught fire instantly.
I realize connecting it while turned on was a mistake, but the reaction seems little extreme for connecting a wire with no device or component attached,

Hello, is D4 supposed to be a zener diode? Its listed as a 5.1v schottky diode but I can't find those available.

Hi, can I connect several 12V or 18V parallel panels? Can I connect acid batteries with a capacity greater than 4A? is it compatible with 17.2V/70W solar panel?

Works with 2x19V 50Ws, but you loose half of the power during mid day since it only charges at 4A (12Vx4A ie 48W), capacity should not matter will only take longer to charge.

just make sure your battery is Lead-acid batteries:FLA,Flooded Lead Acid,AGM,absorbent glass mat or Gel
Charging will be protected, don't worry about battery damage.
