How can I upgrade the firmware? It says it's 1.0, but there's 3.0 available on firmware page.

The simplest solution would be to use a full digital row on the board (so power, ground, and one analog port) and then plug the second digital pin into the adjacent digital pin only. For example, you could have power , gnd, and RX be on the digital pin 7 row (using the red, black, and green pins) and then just have the TX pin be on the 6th row digital pin (green color pin only).
