Hi. Can I put plastic or something in front of it like 3d printed "clear" opal filament?

You can get the complete AT instruction manual by sending an email to our technical support.

hello i am using multiple sensor for our product , some times sensor works smooth for days without stoping and some time it turn its red light solid and block the whole microcontroller can you explain the meaning if red light turns solid .how to deal with it we our planing to use the sensor in our product .but this issue turns and into a bottleneck for us .
thank you

The on-board red LED is to show the recognition result, and the LED turns on to indicate that the sensor has been triggered.
Are you connecting more than one SEN0395 to your controller at the same time via the serial port?
Are you able to set and save parameters via the serial port and then connect them to your controller via IO2? This will not cause blocking problems.

Is it possible to have this sensor mounted behind a (LCD or OLED display in a wall) and detect a person in front of the display and switch then the display on (and in absence off), What materials are allowed to be installed in front of the sensor?

We think this is possible because the 24GHz sensor has some penetration.
Such as bed boards, plastic boards, etc. However, since the material of the screen may vary, we recommend that you use the screen to test it yourself.

Unfortunately, this sensor can only output IO high and low levels. Its UART output can only output a binary signal, that is, whether there is anyone in the corresponding area.
This sensor does not have more detailed data output.

Hello, Is there any way to lower the current drawn by the sensor?

Hi My Sensor does not work all the time. I use it in combination with an Arduino uno and take the IO2 output for the detection. sometimes it works flawlessly but sometimes it only gives LOW as the output, no matter how much movement is in front of it and then I had to replug it And now it only gives that output, even after a restart. Is it broken? The LED is lit up. and blinks once from time to time...

Are you using the sample code provide by us? Or you modify some code based on it?

It's up to the user to provide evidence of their problem, so the manufacturer can try to replicate and/or observe the issue.

Any video the manufacturer puts out is just marketing, and must be taken with a grain of salt, as there is no way to know that they weren't, for example, running beta firmware.

They aren't asking you to "prove it", they're asking you to help them diagnose the issue *you* are having. If you don't want to engage with them, then that's on you.

Are there PCB schematic with component lists available?

The one referenced in the Wiki. The DF Robot mmWave Radar Library. https://github.com/DFRobotd...

Thanks Ryan,

Got feedback in the meantime from DFROBOT. They also pointed to this repository and said that there is no newer version.

BTW:
I bought two of them and wait now for the arrival.

We will see whether the sensor is really capable to detect a movement in the via software defined region
(form example 3 meters to 3.15 meters)
when there is a movement in that region
while it will not trigger
when a movement is inbetween the configured area and the sensoe (for example at 2.0 meters).

Can it penetrate through walls?

userHeadPic JaneYu
2022-07-08 19:45:14

Yes I have tried a whole lot of scenarios here.

0-1m
1-2m
2-3m
Etc
0.15-0.3m
3.0-3.15m
6.30-6.45m
Et

The end result is always the same. Sensor triggers to a 1 as soon as anything at any range moves in front of the sensor.

I have even gone to a manually entering the settings via typing the raw commands into the serial port and verifying the mmWave firmware reports ok, without any errors. It just doesn’t do anything with the settings. And yes I have been saving the config before starting the sensor.

The sensor is sensitive to anything that moves; It is recommended that the sensor be fixed; otherwise, if the sensor itself is shaking, the output is 1.

Detection Range Configuration Doesn't Work For Me.

Hi there, I have bought the mmwave sensor, the recommended UNO R3 and loaded the provided library and source code.
For my application I would like to be able to set detection range to somewhere between 3 and 6m. I don't want to detect targets < 3m away or more than 6m away. So I use the sensor.DetRangeCfg(3, 6);

Unfortunately the sensor just triggers on everything in the field of view. Has anyone been able to get this to work???

No. It didn’t work for me either. I was very thorough in my testing. You are right to be annoyed that this key selling-point doesn’t work.
It does work if I set up > 3m. It doesn’t trigger until I am 3m from the sensor.
However, if I set it up to trigger between 2 and 3m, it will always trigger closer than 3m, even at 1m.

The description indicates that it can detect a sleeping person. I wonder how does it distinguish a person from a mattress, or a suitcase on the bed?

can it count people? no. does it know one or many people are moving, yes.

Why does the Arduino interface use pins 2&3 and not use classic UART 0&1 pins?

userHeadPic JaneYu

The wiki doesn't explain how you can distinguish between active and stationary presence. How can it be done? I would have to scan each of the 127 sectors of 15 cm and say that if there are very few active sectors, then it is a stationary presence, like a sleeping person? or is there another way to do it?
