After installing the sensor and connected to 5V, the longest distance I can adjust is 60cm, not 400cm. I have tried 30, 50, 60, 100 and 200 cm, but the maximun distance that detects is 60cm. What could be the problem?

Same here. I bought 5 units last year, and only 4 of them work at a maximum distance of 15-20cm... there seems to be an issue with this batch. I've contacted support to either replace them or find a solution... :-(
