Hello
with reference to the:
MODBUS-RTU RS485 Soil Temperature, Humidity and pH Monitoring Sensor (IP68, 5-30V).. limitations? could i use arduino with short burst pH measurements to reduce power consumption.

Does this work with microbit?

Sorry, this product does not support microbit blocks. We provide the register list, you may need to write your own programme according to the modbus protocol.

Sorry for the delayed response due to the May Day Holiday. We just replied your email and send you the sample code of software serial version.

The connection of TTL->RS485 module should be RX to D1, TX to D0.
The RX and TX at both ends of the TTL serial port are opposite. Also you need to make sure your serial monitor baud rate is 9600

Let me clarify. The problem will have to be portable in the field, in order to allow multiple samples.
Therefore the Arduino ESP32 (3.3V) will be battery operated and hence I will require low power consumption (plan to use 2 x 3.7V 5000mAH with a 3.7V to 5V converter). The Arduino will also be WiFi enabled.
Thank you.

what is the accuracy of th pH measurement (low EC).
also the humidity is volumetric and if so what is the volume/area of measurement around sensor.
