DFplayer mini or DFplayer pro; to play 2 diffrent sounds

How to wire dfplayer as standalone to play 2 diffrent sounds via 2 buttons? sorry im new to all of this so any advice is appreciated

DFplayer mini: 

by default sound is only “played by next sound” not by direct selection unless resistors are used, but how to a wire this?

DFplayer pro:

2 buttons wired to IO1 and IO2 per chatgpt, but I don't see this on the dfplayer pro pins?

Also how can this 18650 battery only be used when sound button 1 or 2 is pressed and then off? like a singing greeting card, it's only On when opened but no power when closed to save battery?
