Problem with DFRobot Romeo 2.2

Hi, I've a problem di the DFRobot Romeo 2.2, I need to power the board from a battery. I've connected the battery (12V) to the motor VIN/Ground connectors. But when I switch the power switch to ON, the board doesn't respond. If I connect the board to the PC with the USB cable the board turn on, and I can use motors connected, but, without the USB cable the board doesn't turn on.
Have you a solution?
Thanks!
I set the power switch to ON, but the board is powered only by the USB cable. If I disconnect the USB cable and set power switch to ON, the board isn't powered.

The DC barrel jack on the Romeo is designed to power both the motors and the microcontroller.
Connect your 12V battery (positive to center) to the barrel jack.
Set the power switch to "V-IN", not "USB".
This will route the external power through the onboard voltage regulator. Ensure the battery supplies enough current (1.5A or more is recommended for motors).
