Maqueen V3 Plus Matrix Lidar Sensor Connectivity

When I connect the LIDAR sensor board of the Maqueen V3 to my pc for coding, the pc beeps like its connected, and the red led on board lights up, but the board never appears in the file explorer.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Oh wait, I think I figured it out. I need a micro:bit that does not come with the Maqueen V3 Plus. I was trying to plug directly into the LIDAR board thinking it was the only logical way to connect. I assumed this was a full kit, but without the micro:bit it can not do anything. Just learning about micro:bit for the first time now so this was not clear to me.
