Question About Building Strong Robot Base Frame Materials

Hello everyone, I am new to this forum and very excited about all the cool robot projects shared here. I enjoy learning about different sensors, motors, and materials used for robot frames. I am planning to build a larger robot that can carry heavy loads, so I wonder about best way to choose good strong materials for base frame. In my work sometimes I do structural steel takeoff services for construction projects, which help me calculate materials needed for strong structures. Now in robotics I think this idea can help too to know what parts and how many bolts, beams, or plates I need before cutting and building. Does anyone here have experience building robot frames with metal parts? What materials or method you use to plan and estimate how strong the frame will be? Any suggestions for sensors or kits that help measure load and strength before final build? Thank you very much! I am learning a lot from all of you and happy to share progress!
