Integrating LattePanda with Industrial Control Instruments (Modbus/RS485)

Hello everyone,

I am currently exploring the use of LattePanda boards (specifically looking at the 3 Delta or Sigma) as edge computing gateways and local HMI screens for industrial automation and Building Management Systems.

We work heavily with industrial process control instruments, such as temperature controllers, power analyzers, and digital timers (for reference on the hardware we are integrating, we use equipment from https://www.multispanindia.com).

My goal is to read data from these instruments via RS485/Modbus RTU directly into the LattePanda to run a local dashboard and push telemetry data to the cloud.

Has anyone here successfully deployed a LattePanda in an industrial control cabinet environment for 24/7 operation? I would appreciate any insights or experiences regarding:

Communication: Reliable RS485 USB/Serial module recommendations that play nicely with the board.

Thermal Management: Best practices for keeping the board cool inside a closed industrial panel.

Reliability: General long-term stability for IIoT applications.
