DFRobot FIT0803 linear actuator burn

Hi,

“I’m trying to understand why my DFRobot FIT0803 module failed. During investigation, I found that a 3-pin IC (likely a regulator or switch) on the board is burnt/damaged. The module was powered with 5V from an ESP32. What could have caused this failure?

Many thanks,
Criton

Hi! A few possible causes for reference:

1. Reverse power polarity: These small ICs lack reverse protection; even brief reversal can burn them.

2. Actuator stall/overload: A blocked/overloaded motor draws excessive current, exceeding the IC's rating.

3. Limited ESP32 5V current: Its 5V output can’t handle heavy loads, overstressing the IC. It’s recommended to use a dedicated 6V regulated power supply and add a relay to control the module when using with ESP32.
