Amplifier for DFPlayer Pro

I am trying to make an ultra compact sound module. I require more volume than the player can provide on its own. I have not had any luck using a PAM8302. Can anyone tell me of a proven option, that works with the player's DACL output?

Skip PAM8302 for DAC audio projects. Use PAM8403 for analog DAC outputs.
It handles line level better. It is widely tested and reliable. If possible, switch to I2S audio. Use MAX98357A for best compact results. It removes analog mismatch problems completely. For stable volume control, use TPA2016D2. It adds automatic gain control. Match DAC output with input attenuation if needed. Always check signal level before amplification.
