s2l RPLiDAR

Do I attach something directly to the to? if I attach it to the base the lidar is sitting upon, the brackets / supports would be sensed by the lidar. I want to mount it above a raspberry pi5 on a robot car.
Hi,the S2L doesn't really need a shade: the specs say anti-ambient-light >80000 lux, IP65, and the official datasheet states it "works well in outdoor environment with direct sunlight." But if you want one anyway, the rule is simple: never let anything enter the 360° scan plane (the flat horizontal ring the laser sweeps). That includes base brackets — you're right that they'd show up as false points.
So mount the shade like a wide-brimmed hat from the top,The datasheet blind range is 0.05 m, so supports that stay within 5 cm of the unit (or entirely above the scan plane) won't be measured.
For the Raspberry Pi 5 car: mount the lidar on a short standoff so the scan plane sits above the Pi/car body, then a top hat-style shade is safe. Fixing points — the S2L is normally mounted via the bottom.
