DFR0174 Xbee USB adapter board layout

Hello,
I have a question on DFR0174 Xbee USB adapter board
Does anyone know what these 3 pairs of holes, surrounded by white lines, in the center of the board are for?

And don't worry about the bootloader, you could find them in your Arduino IDE folder like this:
arduino-1.0.5-r2\hardware\arduino\firmwares

It is MEGA8u2 ICSP interface, you could burn its bootloader via this interface.

Aha. So, in theory, I can erase MEGA8u2 firmware so that it does not interfere in XBEE-TTL communications?
Is firmware for MEGA8u2 available for download in case I want to restore the firmware later?
