adapter XBee-USB V2 - how to check accuracy?

Hello!
Recently I have bought two XBee-modules and one adapter XBee-USB.
Adapter is this:
http://www.dfrobot.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=588

I am new of this, and I am not sure I understand (and do) correctly all.

I have read in description this place:
"The Atmega8U2 firmware uses the standard USB COM drivers, and no external driver is needed."
(Third sentence.)

Due of this I connect my adapter into USB-port of my computer by USB-mini cable.
And I wait the system will say: "New device detected" and then I can see in
"Device Manager" new (virtual?) COM-port (not COM1).

If I am wrong here, please understand me why I am wrong.

But I do not see any reaction exepting the PWR-led (red) becames bright.
No new COM-ports, no messages about new device!

I repeated this with all USB-ports on 3 computers - no any reaction.
System Windows-7 is licensed, USB-ports are good (other devices work!).
New (second) cable USB-mini just from a shop is good. Does it mean
my adapter is not good?

My question is: can I after all this return the adapter to seller?
Is this a proof of disrepair?

thanks.
2014-08-28 12:42:49 No, when I unplug/plug the adapter, there is no anything appear in the device manager!
No "Unknown device", no "other device" - nothing.

But when I run hdwwiz.exe and direct him to file "Arduino USBSerial.inf", I see for a short time
"Unknown device" (adapter is plugged). In result, I see message like "Starting of this
device is impossible (code 10)" and COM4-port appears in Device Manager with the same
message in property-window. "Unknown device" disappears. XCTU can not work with this COM4.

Site Microsoft.support sais: "code 10" means the updating of drivers is needed.

"ICSP" is not a device? This is a method? Is it this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/In-circuit_serial_programming ?

But the "ICSP programmer" is a device? Or a programm? No, I have not.
If you mean a programm, possibly I may download it from somewhere...
If you mean a device ... I don't know ...

You "feel very sad" because the reanimation is needed?

I will very gratefull if you tell me about "ICSP programmer" and reanimation-process step-by-step.
May be you could give me a good link about it?
Thanks.

When you unplug/plug the adapter, is there anything appear in the device manager?
Like Unknown device, other device, or anything else?(I can read it, I feel very sad. (T_T))
Do you have an ICSP programmer?

2014-08-28 01:23:09 Status of the LED indicators:
  RSSI - dark
  RX  - dark
  TX  - dark
  PWR  - bright

Look at the photo1 (without XBee-module) and the photo2 (with XBee-module inserted) - there is no
a difference. Is this a good status? I never saw another statuses.
The quality of photos is not very good, I will try to make better later if it is necessary, please
tell me if it is necessary.

And I attached screenshot of Device Manager page (in Russian, my system is russified). I can
make any more screenshots which are needed. I can setup new (English) Windows-7 and make new
screenshot.

2014-08-27 19:32:13 Hello Torrvic,
Could you attach a screenshot about your device manager, and a photo about your adapter(with power)?

What is the status of the LED indicators?

2014-08-27 04:43:02 Hello, Grey!
Yes, I have installed Arduino IDE before, but it seems to me it was simply unpacking.

Now I have downloaded drivers from your link and run dpinst-x86.exe. He said: drivers
were installed successfully, now you may connect your device.

But I do not see any new COM-port in Device Manager. However I connected my adapter
(with XBee-module inserted). I saw nothing. I run XCTU-program but she shows only COM1-port,
(I think COM1 is for another devices, this adapter will never work through COM1-port.)

What I did wrong?
Thanks. :-[

2014-08-26 19:00:59 Hello Torrvic,
Did you install the Arduino IDE before?
If you installed  before, now it doesn't need any further drivers.
But if you don't, it still need driver.
You can download it from attachment, and double click dpinst-amd64(64-bits)/dpinst-x86(32-bits) to install the driver automatically.
