Maixduino AI Development Board is an edge AI development platform built around the Kendryte K210 RISC‑V processor, integrating an MI AI module and an onboard ESP32 module for wireless connectivity in an Arduino UNO–compatible form factor. The compact embedded AI controller combines dual‑core 64‑bit processing, neural‑network acceleration, and flexible peripheral interfaces to support vision, voice, and IoT applications. With built‑in SRAM, programmable IO routing, and multimedia interfaces, this intelligent edge‑computing board enables rapid development of machine‑vision projects, smart connected devices, and embedded AI prototypes while maintaining compatibility with familiar maker hardware ecosystems.

Note: The shape and pins are compatible with Arduino UNO R3 but the voltage level is not compatible, which requires great attention, otherwise the board can be damaged. Maixduino supports 3.3V and 1.8V levels, and the pins are divided into several BANKs, each BANK can be set to a voltage of 1.8V or 3.3V by software, however these pins are not 5V tolerated. When using Arduino peripheral devices, avoid shorting 5V to the pin or RST (1.8V) pin.
RISC‑V AI Processor with Hardware Acceleration
The embedded AI computing board uses the Kendryte K210 featuring a dual‑core 64‑bit RISC‑V CPU with independent FPU, 8MB on‑chip SRAM, and adjustable operating frequency up to 400MHz. Integrated neural‑network hardware accelerator (KPU) enables efficient convolution, activation, batch normalization, and pooling operations directly on the board. Additional hardware units including a programmable IO array (FPIOA/IOMUX), FFT accelerator, and voice processing unit (APU) support signal processing and audio analysis, enabling real‑time machine‑vision inference and voice interaction in compact embedded systems.
Integrated Wireless Connectivity via ESP32
An onboard ESP32‑WROOM‑32 wireless module powered by a dual‑core Xtensa LX6 processor provides 2.4GHz 802.11 b/g/n WiFi and Bluetooth 4.2 LE communication. This wireless IoT controller enables seamless cloud connectivity, remote control, and data transmission for AI edge projects. Combining K210 AI processing with ESP32 networking allows the intelligent controller board to perform local inference while communicating results to cloud platforms, mobile apps, or other embedded systems.
Rich Multimedia and Expansion Interfaces
The AI vision development platform includes a DVP camera connector, LCD display interface, MEMS microphone, TM8211 I2S audio DAC, and a 3W power amplifier for complete multimedia interaction. A USB Type‑C port with dual‑channel CH522 supports programming and power for both K210 and ESP32 processors. Arduino‑compatible headers provide digital I/O, PWM, I2C, UART, and six analog inputs, enabling easy integration with sensors, actuators, and robotics components while maintaining compatibility with the Development Board ecosystem.
This edge AI development board supports applications such as smart home robotics, intelligent speakers, industrial automation prototypes, agricultural monitoring devices, medical instrumentation, and STEM education platforms requiring embedded machine vision and wireless connectivity.
