Dear friends,
We have sad news to annouce with great grief and sorrow.
Lutz Michaelis, our beloved friend, colleague and the best maker passed away peacefully on May 17th in San Francisco.
Lutz had been dedicating himself to the maker community since 2011. Before joining DFRobot, he had been an active member of Letsmakerobots.com and Xin Che Jian, the first hackerspace in Shanghai. After quiting his job as techical translator in Asus in 2012, his inner maker started to shine: he soon became a talented maker, a helpful member as well as a firm evangelist of the maker spirit. Lutz was very helpful in all aspects. His unordinary creative ideas, rigorous work style and sincere charisma had always been widely acclaimed among his friends, colleagues and community. He was the designer of Insectbot Mini and Insectbot Hexa, two beginner robotics kits that had been appreciated across the globe. He was also a core member in the DreamMaker team, especially in the OverLord kickstarter project. During the campaign, he listened and responded very actively to every one of you about your thoughts and ideas. Without his support, OverLord 3D Printer would not have achieved so much. Now, we have the machine ready for shipping. Just a week ago, after waving goodbye with a big smile, Lutz traveled to San Francisco with his OverLord 3D Printer to proudly showcase to the Maker Faire Bay Area. But he didn't woke up that Sunday morning.
We are all appreciate and grateful for what Lutz have done to us. His selfless dedication will long be remembered in our hearts and minds. Let's give the beloved living comfort and blessing, and wish Lutz rest in peace in heaven.
With Tears
