URM37 V3.2 Ultrasonic Sensor connection to PLC

I want to connect URM37 to a PLC (not Arduino). I am planning to use it in PWM mode.
Am I right that I should initially setup PMW mode by sending a serial command. Can I do all setup work with Arduino and then connect URM37 to my PLC?
