Hi

I need help with the DFR RS232 Shield

I followed instructions but can't make it work

I've tried straight cable

I've tried null modem cable

I tried the recommended test sketch

LEDs for TX RX don't light up

Do I have a defective shield?

Pls help

Maybe there's a step or setting I've missed which is not a part of the Wiki

Sorry, could you provide me a connection diagram?

2016-07-10 07:40:05 ...but there is another problem.
If a PC has ~4.8v between pins 5 and 7, it works fine.
But other PC has 5.11v on COM, and RS232 shield became very hot (>60c) in 10 seconds! :!::shock:
Is it normal?

Voltmeter shows drop to 4.99v between VCC and GND when wiring to 5.11v from COM.

I wired COM pin 7 -> VCC and all works correctly now. TTL controller answered correctly. Great!

Strange what VCC is not jumped to DB9 on board.

2016-07-10 05:24:58 I stucked too.

I bought RS232-TTL board, plug it to RS232-USB converter pluged to windows PC.
No LED lights.
I've successfully installed drivers, PC sees COM, software can send and receive data.
But I got only garbage.
For example , send 00, immediately received C8. Or othe random. Why
Do I need to extra power the board?? Why it can not get voltage from PC's rs232?
