VLC player problem

Has anyone can use vlc player on LP? I've installed it but it stops every time with sound problem, when i wanted to play any kind of video.
But videos on Youtube runs perfectly with sound, I've try a web/java based MMORG, it also has sound, system sounds works well.
Is there any codek I have to install?
