Is it still a good idea to use the plywood case with this fan/heat sink combo installed?

So, any updates on turning the fan off? It seems like a massive design flaw that it runs when the computer is off, as long as there's power to the plug...If there's no way, I plan to cut a wire, and throw a switch in there.
Having said that, the fan IS very quiet. Anyone who is hearing it with ANY other noise around them has Superman hearing.
JaneYu I got the my fan today with the board. Not very efficient and very noisy. Not anything near "ultra low noise". It's the same as the picture.
Both the regular fan noise and a high pitch sound is loud. The high pitch sound comes and goes on a regular basis (in waves) and the fan noise itself you can here in almost all parts of the apartment. It sounds like a small vacuum cleaner or like the neighbour is vacuuming.
If your sitting in the same room while playing music or video you can still here it. And that's when it's facing up. Facing down so the fan is standing on a table with its screws (in the acrylic case) is way worse.
It keeps the lattepanda at about 60 degrees Celsius in idle and about 70 degrees Celsius when working with a shorter youtube video or installations. It's terrible that it is solid state on and not able to shut off without unplugging it and that you don't have a dynamic
fan-port.
This needs to be switch out for a temperature sensitive fan. This is not a good solution.
The fan goes up and down in revs due to the variation on the current. It slows down a little bit when I'm scrolling on this page or the processor has a heavier load at the moment.
JaneYu I reccived this fan: https://www.dfrobot.com/pro... it has around 28-30db, checked with an application on the phone, I actually can hear the noisy of the airflow even at the kitchen.
I would like to know how to turn it off when the system on "SLEEP MODE" or when I shut it down, as the can remains working even when the system is off, any idea?
JaneYu Hi, you sure ? the black fan? the noise level is 20dB(A) , of course it is only a reference value. BUT if it really that noisy, I suggest you ask a rma and provide a video for that ,than we can ship a replacement to you.
And sorry, seems like the fan can not sleep when shut the LP down, for the 2 pin is link to power port directly. So , may be you need solder two pin on the red LED? or link to arduino port and control it
Hi Guys!
On the previous page this product is "Out of Stock".
Is this product really in stock?
Thanks!
Pasquale
JaneYu Hello, is there any way for the fan to turn off after the system has been shut down, my keeps on running unless I unplug the unit, i.e. maybe a way for the manufactures to reprogram or flash the bios, just like they did for the startup bios. Thank you in advance.
JaneYu
