Have you accounted for this effect? Since many farmers uses organic manure, it will impact true soil moisture measurement.
we have different reading range if we connect it to arduino uno and esp32. If we use arduino, the reading range is between 260 (water) - 520 (dry). But the range will be different if we use esp32, I got the range between 360 (water) - 760 (dry). Any suggestion?
JaneYu Sorry for the inconvenience, use normally commonly, 1-2 years should be to do not have a problem. You can reach out to [email protected] for further questions regarding this matter. And could you tell me the measurement environment or where it is applied?
JaneYu Hi there, https://uploads.disquscdn.c...
Do you only need such cables?
You can search directly for PH2.0 cable.
JaneYu Hi,
I'm trying to build a capacitive soil moisture sensor but I'm a bit stuck with calculating the capacitance of the plane which sticks into the ground. Between which capacitances does this sensor change? Also what are the dimensions of the capacitance plane and the distance between GND and capacitance plane? Thanks in advance!
JaneYu Hi,
Can I have the exact dimensions of the notch/neck area of the sensor? (ie. The neck is located above the warning line, right in-line with the electronics) I am designing a ** to hold this and I require that information before buying the sensor.
JaneYu hi, I have purchased this sensor, a microbit board and and a dfrobot expansion board, I am able to connected the sensor to the board and received some number from the board, like 920 (in the air), but I don't really understand them. Could you please advise 1. what does the value mean, and 2. if I need to calibrate the sensor before I use it, and if so, how to do it on a microbit board, thanks!
JaneYu Hey Stemray,
Thanks for your question. The soil moisture sensor reads the relative humidity of the soil through capacitive touch. Essentially, you will have base comparison values of the relative humidity in the air and in water, which you can then use as reference points to calculate the relative humidity in soil. Therefore there is a calibration process that is needed. The instructions on how to do so can be found on our product wiki here: https://wiki.dfrobot.com/Ca...
Hi. What do you mean by "And that's why when you plug it back, it works again." is it about electrical disconnection? Thanks
JaneYu Hi,
The soil adhered to the sensor may affect the result. So you take the sensor out and put it back. It's like clearing the sensor.
hi
im going to buy some of this sensor.
at your schematic the 555 power by 3v , so how it can output up to 3v ( not 2/3 vcc)
I know I did not understand, and it wiil be very helpul if you can give me a detailed explanation
about the 5v that go from the arduino to regulator to the output 555 Square wave ,and the max out put at the analog read(0-3v or 1.2-2.5v)
thanks you
JaneYu The pin 3 of TLC555 chip is logic output, so it can only be 3V or 0V. Therefore 3V is the highest value that analog output can reach. The final analog reading range is from 1.2 to 2.5V, which is affected by capacitance.
My moisture sensors are currently power by a arduino digital I/O pin which is only turned on while I want to make a measurement (~ 100 milisec before measuring). The result is a very low difference between wet and dry analog output. I used the same hardware setup also with another code having the pin permanently powered, receiving different results with higher bandwidth.
My question: Is a there a minimum time the sensor must be powered before getting a stable reading? (e.g. to charge a capacitor?)
JaneYu The output current of the digital I/O is very small, if you need to control the switch of the sensor, it is recommended to consider using a transistor or a relay.
The boards should be serviceable as long as they are not corroded or defective
JaneYu hi, I want to ask, I bought these 3 sensors, but why is there one sensor with the results of the reading which is very different from the other two sensors, even though I have calibrated it
JaneYu why there is an inverse ratio between the SEN0193 sensor output value and soil moisture?
http://disq.us/url?url=http...
JaneYu There is an inverse ratio between the sensor output value and soil moisture.
Do you sell 3 meter long jumper wires with the two connectors on the end?
JaneYu There is a jumper wire which could be used with this sensor.
JaneYu What gauge is the wire in the jumper? I am interested in using a longer wire than provided.
I took a look at this schematic but I don't see where the actual sensor fits into the circuit. If I wanted to recreate this by myself, where in the circuit would I represent the sensor? Thanks
JaneYu How much current does this draw? What is max current draw and max power consumption?
JaneYu Hi
This sensor can not use as an accurate sensor, it output the relative analog value compare to the value in water and dry air, you can set the percent according to the analog value.
JaneYu hello sir
can i use arduino mega here?? i buy one of your DFROBOt
when i submerged it into the water the reading is 0%
while in dry soil it reads 100% moisture
Help me sir..
JaneYu It seems the results inversed, please recalibrate the sensor by the wiki: https://www.dfrobot.com/wik...
