Trouble Adjusting SEN0158 Camera Sensitivity — Laser Reflection Not Detected

Hi everyone,

I’m having some trouble with my SEN0158 camera. It doesn’t seem to detect the laser reflection even from a projector screen surface at a distance of about 2–3 meters. I’ve already tried repositioning the laser and adjusting lighting conditions, but no luck so far.

I reached out to support for help with tuning the camera’s sensitivity, but haven’t received a clear response. Does anyone here know if there’s a way to manually adjust the sensitivity or analog gain of the SEN0158? Maybe through firmware settings or any external configuration tools?

Any suggestions or experience with improving the camera’s reflection detection would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance,

Also, make sure you’re not too far beyond the rated detection distance — the sensor tends to drop off sharply past 2 meters. Some people have had success increasing detection by using a retroreflective target instead of a plain surface.

Hi there,
I had a similar issue when testing the SEN0158 for a small LiDAR-style setup. The sensitivity can’t really be tuned through software, but you can play with the exposure and detection timing if you access the sensor via a microcontroller.
If you’re using a white projection surface, that’s actually not ideal — it scatters too much light. Try aiming at something more reflective or add a retroreflective sticker.
