IOTA POE Requirements
Jeremiah.Robinson 2026-01-17 10:53:31 210 Views1 Replies I was wondering if this board can be powered by POE+ instead of POE++ the switches for the company i work for only support POE+ and i would like to power one of these and the 11 inch touch screen over just POE+ if possible, i know i would have to limit the power a bit. Thanks in advance!
Technically, the IOTA PoE expansion module is designed for the IEEE 802.3bt (PoE++) standard to ensure full performance. While it is downward compatible with PoE+ switches, you should be aware of the following power limitations:
PoE+ only provides about 25.5W at the device end. A standard IOTA board plus an 11-inch touchscreen can easily exceed this limit during peak loads (CPU spikes or high screen brightness). If the combined power draw exceeds 25.5W, the system may experience unexpected shutdowns or boot loops.
To make this work, you would need to strictly limit the CPU PL1/PL2 power states in the BIOS and keep the screen brightness low.

It is possible for light tasks, but for a stable experience with a 11" screen, PoE++ (802.3bt) is strongly recommended.
