SEN0366 not working actively

I recently got a SEN0366 infared laser distance sensor that was initially working well with a continuous laser beam, however it now pulses four times then waits several seconds before repeating. This occurs when the laser is simply plugged into the computer via usb. How may I fix this issue?

This may be a saved operating mode rather than a hardware fault. Reconfigure it through a serial terminal, since plugging it into USB only powers/connects the USB-to-TTL adapter.
Set the port to 9600 baud, 8N1, send the commands as HEX bytes, then power-cycle the sensor:
Start continuous measurement: 80 06 03 77Enable measurement on power-up: FA 04 0D 01 F4Set the continuous return interval to 1 second: FA 04 05 01 FCLaser on test: 80 06 05 01 74Laser off test: 80 06 05 00 75Make sure the serial terminal sends HEX bytes, not ASCII text. After these settings are written and the sensor is restarted, it should return to normal continuous operation.
