FIT0620 Solenoid Lock Maximum Voltage Rating

Hi, I want to operate the FIT0620 lock from a 12V supply consisting in 8 AA Batteries (Alkaline or Lithium-metal). Nominally they are 1,5V batteries, but when fully charged the battery pack may reach 13V2. Would this voltage damage the solenoid? Power dissipation would increase by 1,8W. Thanks in advance!

Hi, I’d avoid applying 13.2V directly. The FIT0620 is specified for 9-12V DC, 1.5A, and the official note also recommends keeping each unlock pulse under 5 seconds.

Even if the overvoltage is small, the coil heating rises with V²/R. Based on the 12V / 1.5A spec, 13.2V would be about 21% more heat. It may work for short pulses, but it would be outside the rated range, so a 12V regulator or buck converter would be the safer choice.
