I have bought two xbee shields. When I try to configure the xbees it says it unable to connect to modem.
both jumbers are set to the right, over usb. I have tried every possible jumper configurations.
Both modems work with another adapter from adafruit.
Any suggestions?

might be a dumb advice and you did that already, but did you try to program first the Xbee?

i used the XBee USB Adapter V2 (DFR0174) to program the 2 X-bee with same PAN ID, and it worked perfectly with the DFrobot shield afterward (on both Romeo and Uno with IO expansion).
