Robot pulls to the left

Forgive me, I'm very new to this and not sure what to expect from the 2Amp L298P motor controller, or if it is even a problem with the controller.
I'm using PWM mode and when both motors are in a forward direction with equal analog speed values the chassis pulls distinctively to the left. Is this normal and should I be applying some sort of compensation value (e.g. left motor value is 1.1 x right motor value).

2014-01-16 09:09:37 @grey I think I may have solved it. I think it's a mechanical rather than electrical/logic issue. It pulls left on my hardwood floor at home and tracks straight on the carpet in the office. I think it's weight distribution between the left/right wheels and the big caster wheel on the back. I should get some time later this week to play with it again and confirm that.
