How to read BLDC Motor Sensor ?

Well ,, I don't know how to to read speed from the 3 hall sensor of BLDC Motor ?
I find this article in arduino website ,, can these code be use in this motor ?

Arduino signal output can't drive the motor directly , so it need a controller
This motor need a Brushless Motor Controller to control the speed and measure the speed.
