Introduction

DFRobot SHT31-F Digital Temperature and Humidity Sensor Breakout Board integrates the Sensirion SHT31‑F sensing IC to deliver precise environmental measurements for embedded systems and IoT deployments. Built on advanced CMOSens® technology, this digital temperature and humidity sensing module combines capacitive humidity measurement and band‑gap temperature detection within a compact breakout format. The I2C interface enables seamless integration with common development platforms such as Arduino, micro:bit, and ESP32 controllers. Reliable digital output, compact PCB layout, and wide operating voltage make this environmental sensing board suitable for smart infrastructure, industrial monitoring, and connected automation systems.


High‑Reliability CMOSens® Environmental Measurement

Sensirion’s CMOSens® integration technology combines humidity sensing elements, temperature sensing circuitry, signal conditioning, and digital processing onto a single chip. This environmental monitoring module therefore delivers excellent long‑term stability, low power consumption, and strong resistance to electromagnetic interference. Integrated calibration inside the sensing IC provides consistent digital output without complex compensation algorithms, making the breakout board highly suitable for automated data logging systems, IoT gateways, and environmental monitoring networks where measurement reliability and repeatability are essential.


IP67 PTFE Protective Membrane for Harsh Environments

An integrated PTFE membrane protects the sensing opening against water droplets, spray exposure, and dust contamination, achieving IP67‑level protection. This protective layer allows deployment in industrial environments, outdoor monitoring systems, and agricultural sensing platforms where airborne particles or moisture may affect sensor longevity. Despite the added protection, high water‑vapor permeability ensures that the humidity and temperature response time remains comparable to uncovered sensors, maintaining accurate environmental measurements even under challenging operating conditions.


High Accuracy Digital Sensing with I2C Connectivity

The SHT31‑F sensing element delivers humidity accuracy of ±2%RH across 0%RH–100%RH at 25°C and temperature accuracy of ±0.2°C within the typical 0°C–90°C range. Digital I2C communication simplifies integration with embedded platforms and microcontroller development boards. This compact sensing breakout therefore functions effectively as a smart building monitoring node, urban environmental sensing unit, or precision climate monitoring component in automated control systems and industrial equipment.
