Introduction

The GM73 code reader module is a high-performance scanner that captures common 1D and 2D codes—like barcodes and QR codes on labels, paper, or screens—with a high speed of about 1 second.

The module delivers superior reading performance by utilizing advanced decoding algorithms based on smart image recognition, allowing it to read all kinds of codes accurately. Users can configure parameters by simply scanning setup codes, which greatly reduces development difficulty. With onboard micro USB and UART, it can be conveniently embedded into various devices.

This new version of the GM73 module has been significantly upgraded for enhanced performance, security, and flexibility.

  • Enhanced Security: Settings can now be password-protected to prevent unauthorized changes.
  • Superior Light Tolerance: Adapts to a much wider range of lighting conditions, now supporting 0 to 100,000 Lux.
  • Advanced Scanning & Data Control: Introduces Host-controlled scanning mode, advanced data editing like character substitution, and flexible configuration for UPC/EAN add-on codes.
  • Smarter Recognition: Automatically detects and decodes mirrored barcodes without manual setup. It also now supports auto-recognition for Chinese VAT invoices.
  • Expanded Compatibility: Offers broader multi-language keyboard layouts (including Chinese) and supports Unicode output for more versatile data encoding.
