Lcd panel only showing half of image

Just got my lattepanda today and decided to test it out by connecting it to the panda.. i noticed that my screen only showed half of the desktop image and also not showing correct colors.
After a little bit of time.. It sparked and smoked.. this happened on the port found on the lattepanda.
Im not sure if i could send this back to the creator and get it replaced..
Also.. im not sure if the latte panda is causing the image to split or is it the lcd panels connector doing it
Any suggestions?
