Introduction

If you are experiencing boot issues or have changed a BIOS setting that prevents your LattePanda IOTA from starting correctly, you may need to reset the BIOS to its factory defaults.

⚠️ Important Note: simply removing the RTC (CMOS) battery will not reset the BIOS settings on this device.

Please follow the detailed guide below to perform a hard reset.

Prerequisites

- Your LattePanda board.
- The official power adapter.
- A conductive tool (e.g., metal tweezers, a jumper wire, or a screwdriver).

Step-by-Step Guide

1: Disconnect Power
Ensure the device is completely powered down. Unplug the power adapter from the board.

2: Locate the Reset Point
You need to find the specific test point responsible for clearing the CMOS.
- Look for the M.2 E-key slot.
- Locate the golden test point right next to it.

(Note: In the image above, the correct pin is marked with a red rectangle).

3: Short the Pins
Using your conductive tool (tweezers or jumper wire), short this golden test point to a nearby GND (Ground) pin.

4: Power On While Shorting
This is the critical step that often gets missed:
1.  Maintain the short circuit connecting the test point to Ground.
2.  While holding the short, reconnect the power adapter.
3.  Power on the board (press the power button).

5: Wait and Release
1.  Keep holding the short for approximately 10 seconds after the board receives power.
2.  After 10 seconds, remove the short (take away the tweezers/wire).

After completing this procedure, the system should reboot, and the BIOS settings will be restored to their factory defaults. You may need to re-configure specific settings if you had changed them previously.
