Yes, you can, usually a good approach to do it is by multiplexing single UART. There are other several methods for it. I think you'll find the post in his forum useful. This explains several methods pretty well.

Great question. The Laser Rangefinder only has an upper bound of 100kLux of ambient light and therefore will work fine in low light scenarios.
