Introduction

The DFRobot 3D gesture sensor is an interactive sensor that integrates 3D gesture recognition and motion tracking capabilities. It allows users to execute commands through natural hand and finger movements and can detect clockwise/counter-clockwise rotations and motion directions.

This gesture sensor utilizes Microchip MGC3X30 chip with GestIC® technology patent design. The chip enables 3D gesture recognition and motion tracking and includes a three-dimensional gesture input sensing system and a signal processing unit. It effectively detects gestures within a range of 0 to 10cm. It can be used in various interactive projects such as human-computer interaction experiences, smart home, IoT projects, innovative touchless applications, and education.

This is a miniature 3D gesture sensor based on the APDS-9960 chip, communicating via I²C. It detects 6 gesture directions (up, down, left, right, forward, backward) within about 10 cm and also provides ambient light, color, and proximity data. It’s widely used in Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and embedded AI projects for compact gesture control in a small field of view.
